Central Park App Reviews

Great app!

I have been looking for exactly same app for long time. This is it. It covers not only location based information, but also provide a lot of history behind. I hope it will expand national and global. Five stars!

Great app, great park

Excellent, well thought out, clean and light app. Fantastic map. Much needed and very helpful. If you visit Central Park get this app.

Works as advertised, good choice for visitors and regulars

I walk my dog twice a day, 7 days a week in Central Park and know the park pretty well - still learned quite a bit from this app. And more importantly it helps to illustrate where to go exactly to those poor stranded folks in the Ramble or those searching for Strawberry Field. So if you are visiting Central Park or like me get asked several times a day for help, this app delivers. As a side note: yes, there are many, many pointers toward the Park Conservancy (the non-profit agency running the park) an how to support it, but hey, Im a member and if more people pitch in, all the better :-)

Simple Future

Technology, design and simplicity meet to help anyone get through a landmark citys landmark park.

No better than the other Central Park apps out there.

I bought this app to support the CPC but was very disappointed at the feature set. Who IS playing the next concert at the Great Lawn? When ARE the ice rinks going to open? This app wont tell you, and youre better off firing up your mobile Safari to find out. Until the devs update this app with things such as a search feature and more intuitive interface, Id stay away.

Very useful

I visited NY this past week, and this app saved me a lot of time while walking around Central Park. Without it I wouldve gotten lost trying to simply get out of the park. I managed to find all the spots I wanted to see easily thanks to this app. Hoping for more improvements in the future!

Awesome!

Update 1.1 fixed the calendar problem. If you plan on visiting this amazing park, this would be a wonderful companion. ----------------------------------------- Highly recommended! Great for tourists, hikers, shutterbugs, and New Yorkers alike. There is one flaw that stands out. In calendar mode, at the bottom of the calendar is a scrollable list of things to do, for most days. For lists that scroll out of view, it does not allow you to completely scroll to the bottom item. This keeps you from selecting it for detailed information for it. That being said, this is a fantastic app, full of reference useful even to native New Yorkers.

500 Million Dollars?

Lets see, The CPC raises $22,000,000 dollars a year ANNUALLY (they brag about this on the opening/home page of this app along with a bunch of other facts such as having raised $500 million total so far), and this is the best they could do? To be fair, this is probably a 2.5 star app but Im rating it 1 star to make up for all the nimwits who gave it 5 stars. OK, suppose I wanted a really good map of Central Park, one that shows ALL the paths, who might have one...? Hmmm... who in fact is famous for their intricate paper maps of CP, oh thats right! The Central Park Conservancy! But what does the CPC include in this app? An online only google map version which has NO paths and with AT&Ts spotty coverage sometimes will not download at all. You iPod Touch users and 3gless iPad users? Forget it. The Calendar? Also online only with only one view, the month view - no search, no list view So if youre wondering where or when an event is happening you have to tap on EVERY single day throughout the year till you find it, provided that its even listed. CRAZY! Oh, and how about you folks with difficulty reading small text? This app uses text thats smaller then small. TINY, and NOT zoomable. I am always surprised when a respectable organization puts out a substandard product. Dont they realize the extent to which it reflects on them? Putting out an app like this is BAD MARKETING! Its basically stating, yeah, were a pretty half assed organization... CPC, whatever board members son youve hired to write this app, fire them and use a little bit of that $22 million to hire a crack app writing team that will put together an app which will not only be far more helpful to your average Joe visiting the park but which will also accurately reflect the outstanding organization youve otherwise proven yourselves to be.

Awesome

It has many interesting features. I can see myself using this often.

I want my money back

I want my money back it was dumb and had plenty of problems please give me a refund this app was stupid

Excellent guide to one of the treasures of New York.

Central park is absolutely full of nooks, monuments, and byways, and this guide will help you explore them all. The only thing that would make it better would be to incorporate the Central Park runners map.

Map doesnt load

I think this is an outstanding idea and very useful. At least it could be if the map would load (iPod Touch iOS5). I have the landmarks etc indications but they are arrayed against a gray cross-hatched matrix NOT a map of the park with roads etc. like the screenshot. Tried deleting, re-loading, but nada.

Great app for first time visitors

Shows you the major sites in central park and a little info about each of them.

Ill never get lost in Central Park again!

The GPS and map are reason enough to get this app. The notifications as you pass points of interest and photo ops are great. This is the only Central Park app youll ever need.

Disappointing

The whole app is lacking in detail. There is another free app with almost as much detail as this one. They should include the audio guide in the app. It could even be better if it were linked to the GPS and popped up when you are at a location where there is something to say. The map feature is nice. It would be better if you could drop a pin and get routed to your destination. We were looking for the place in the park that simulated Adirondack. Not on the app. Had to look at a guidebook. (That section in the park was cool!)

Great...

...but it should tell is when things are closed like fields for weather or any construction.

iPad

App not actually iPad capable. You get to multiply the app to 2X sized.

Great CP app

Love it. Works great on my iPhone 5. This has to be one of the best free apps Ever. The sites tab is awesome. Strolling CP with this excellent guide is now so much fun. Thanks.

Dud

I had this app it seemed to have corrupted it loads title plate page and then nothing. So I deleted it and downloaded it again ... same issue does nothing whats up with that?

App doesnt work

Installed the app. Title page comes up and then nothing. Title page just stays there. Doesnt work. Would be a great app if it worked. Please fix it or remove the app from the App Store so others dont waste their time.
